“Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful." ~ Warren Buffett

Warren Buffett has had many famous quotes, but perhaps none have been more influential in shaping investor philosophy than this one:

“Be Fearful when others are Greedy and be greedy when others are fearful”

While it may sound simple, this strategy is actually quite complex to master. Humans don’t typically run towards a burning building. We don’t salivate when we see carnage. In the same respect, we don’t enjoy throwing money at something that’s fallen out of favor. Those actions seem to go against our innate animal instincts. It’s much easier to hop aboard the train of public consensus and to invest with popular opinion. But what are your risks? Value investing is Warren Buffett’s ultimate goal.

Simply put, your goal should be to buy low and sell high. Too often, people reverse the two, albeit unintentionally.

This Blog’s Goal

Where should I start? How do I know if I’m doing well? What are some things I need to look out for? What do I do if markets crash?

The goal of this blog’s section is to help those who are interested in investing learn how to make sense of financial markets, find value in investments, and most importantly… learn how to manage your emotions. I will cover interesting stories in stocks, trends in global markets, and tidbits of information I’ve found helpful.

My Portfolio

In the interest of transparency, below is a portfolio of stocks & bonds that I manage for myself on a quarterly basis. In addition to the stocks owned in the portfolio below, I hold positions in other companies. Those companies are MannKind ($MNKD), Athersys ($ATHX), Amarin ($AMRN), and Actinium ($ATNM).
